En Sagarminaga Atelier se bucea entre fibras y colores, entre ruidos y silencios, dejando que el proceso marque su propio ritmo. Las manos avanzan como corrientes, entrelazando materia y gesto hasta que, poco a poco, emerge la forma.

Como en la naturaleza,  donde la vida fluye entre el frenesí y los momentos de equilibrio, en el taller la actividad culmina en piezas que alcanzan un estado de calma: obras que reflejan movimiento, energía y belleza detenida en un instante.

A few months ago, Hermès invited us to create a project for their store on Paseo de Gracia in Barcelona. Inspired by the depths of the Mediterranean Sea and the maison’s 2025 annual theme, Driven by Drawing, we began to imagine a universe where we could share our devotion to craftsmanship and savoir-faire: the time invested, the precision, and the memory of materials.

Last June, Sagarminaga Atelier took part in the annual design festival 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen, aboard the historic ferry at Gammelør. There, we unveiled for the first time Mare Ex Machina, a new line of sculptural furniture presented alongside Tuna Ex Machina, a kinetic piece inspired by the Atlantic bluefin tuna — a symbol of ancestral migrations, vital force, and instinctive drive.

During Milan Design Week, we presented Tuna Ex Machina within the 5VIE curatorial circuit: a 3.2-meter kinetic sculpture paying tribute to the Atlantic bluefin tuna. Crafted from esparto, metal, and movement, this hybrid piece — where nature and technology converge — activated the space as a living, breathing presence, connecting with visitors, designers, and the media through the silent language of matter in transformation.

As part of @parisdecooff_home, where the most prestigious decoration houses unveil their latest collections, we are proud to present our collaboration with the Belgian brand @artewalls for the launch of their new collection, Icarus. Inspired by the Greek myth of Icarus, this collection celebrates creativity, audacity, and the beauty of reimagined nature.

At Sagarminaga Atelier, excellence in the craftsmanship of plant fibers is the result of a careful selection of high-quality materials such as esparto, linen, bulrush, wicker, wood, cordage, and reed. We work closely with Spanish suppliers to ensure sustainable and ethical practices. Our recent trip to Arcos de la Frontera, Cádiz, allowed us to discover new techniques and strengthen relationships with suppliers, continuously improving our artisanal processes.
