The setting of spaces involves more than decorating

Most of our life is spent inside buildings. For this reason, it is necessary to set them with great care. Spaces can have a life of their own. When they are empty they tell a story, and when ornamented they convey a totally different message. But when these are consistently set, then the messages develop a more visceral content.

Although there may be similarities in their meaning, the decoration and the setting do not quite converge. When the decoration seems to be reduced to the use of decorative objects to fill the space, the setting is presented as something more complex and sensorial than the sum of the decorative pieces; We are talking about creating spaces where experiences can emerge. The setting tries to open exciting and lively interiors, to design intimate relationships between people and spaces. To personify the places and to transmit the identity of the owner to this environment, making them come to life and feeling.

It is common to hear that the paths are opened for those who follow their intuition, and this expression does not lose relevance in our profession as designers and craftsmen. In the creative processes that precede the setting of a space, we investigate, get inspired and choose the patterns for each project. Finally, intuition, the most unique human ability, reaches its culmination when it allows us to assess and apply all the information collected to our designs. These resulting ideas vitalize and make spaces timeless.

At Sagarminaga Atelier, we decorate to set, and set to allow life to express itself. Our intuition tells us that the point of light is not focused on decorative goods, but on people, the immateriality of emotions and on being able to express the language of all of us.
