Geometry: in a new light

The search for beauty is the crusade that has captivated humanity for millennia. Each movement has developed its own interpretation of beauty that is different from the others. At the epicenter of a Germany devastated by the First World War, the notion underwent a new revision under a minimalist movement that would influence the artistic currents to come: the Bauhaus.

From the perspective of this school, beauty manifests itself when form follows function. The needs of the society determine the form of the designs, and the exaggerated ornamentation was not contemplated. For this reason, the Bauhaus artists, crushed by the miseries of war, found their canvas of minimalist expression in design, architecture, crafts and art, among other fields. Taking advantage of resources to create unique handcrafted pieces would become characteristic of their ideology. With the power of technology, they tried to improve this manual craft to spread its value throughout society.

It was in geometric design lines that Bauhaus artists found the tools to complete their ideal. 100 years later, their philosophy and inclination towards geometric design has not lost its validity. The motto "form follows function" takes on new meanings in the 21st century under a new design concept that aims to rewrite the rules of coexistence with the environment: sustainable design. Thus, geometry reappears as a solution to our problems, planetary, social and individual.

In its etymological translation, geometry means measure of the earth. From our interpretation, this concept of geometry describes the gap that exists between people and the environment. Disproportion is the hallmark of modern society. Excess use of resources and pollution. Thus, geometry is a call to sustainability, respect for the environment, its limits, but also the beauty they contain.

Inspired by this vision, each of our designs draws geometric finishes that champion proportionality, minimalism and nature through the vegetable fibers that we use.
