About Us
Sagarminaga Atelier is a design studio and artisan workshop specializing in the creation of custom pieces and installations for the hospitality and high-end interior design sectors.
How We Work
We work with top-quality natural materials, such as esparto grass, rattan, porcelain, leather, textiles, and metal, transforming them into works that combine beauty, innovation, and narrative coherence.
Team and Process
The atelier’s multidisciplinary team explores the expressive potential of natural fibers through original techniques of weaving, molding, dyeing, and composition, integrating innovation and craftsmanship into every process. Each project is a one-of-a-kind creation, designed to transform the space into a sensory and memorable experience.
Through our material collections and development samples, we support interior design teams in defining a project’s aesthetic direction, encouraging the exploration of cultural and natural elements that bring meaning to a space.
Our personalized approach transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary, creating spaces with soul that inspire, move, and stand the test of time.
“Co-creation....”
We work closely with architects, interior designers, and hotel brands, interpreting the identity of each project and translating it into materials, textures, and forms. Our approach combines technical precision with artistic and emotional sensitivity to create atmospheres that connect with people and reinforce brand identities.
Gabriela de Sagarminaga
Founder
Gabriela de Sagarminaga is the founder and creative director of Sagarminaga Atelier, a hybrid studio and atelier where art, design, and contemporary craftsmanship converge in a unique material language.
After spending years training in the fashion industry and collaborating with renowned brands in Barcelona, Gabriela embarked on a journey through Latin America to document social innovation initiatives that were transforming local communities. This experience broadened her perspective on art and design as catalysts for cultural and social change.
Upon her return to Spain, she began to investigate the relationship between craftsmanship, territory, and nature: an exploration that led her to discover esparto, a material that has become the physical and symbolic core of her creative practice. Through this material, she examines concepts such as movement, transformation, and the dialogue between the organic and the technological.
In 2017, back in Bilbao, she founded Sagarminaga Atelier, where she creates installations and objects for international luxury brands, building a universe where beauty and symbolism engage in a continuous dialogue with innovation and nature.

Our Team
Our creations owe their existence to the hands that define our team: a group of artisans united by a shared commitment to elevating the atelier’s creativity.
